Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, deploy, and optimize Oracle databases across cloud and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Oracle database technologies, high availability solutions, backup and recovery strategies, and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases for production, testing, and staging environments.
- Deploy and manage Oracle databases in cloud environments such as AWS (RDS, EC2), Azure (SQL Database for Oracle), and Google Cloud (Cloud SQL, Compute Engine).
- Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations across various Oracle versions (9i, 10g, 11g, 12c, 19c, and 21c).
- Implement and manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, and GoldenGate for high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and index management to ensure database efficiency.
- Conduct on-call rotation duties in a 24/7 environment, responding to escalated incidents and troubleshooting complex production issues.
- Manage database security, access controls, and compliance with industry best practices.
- Work with development and infrastructure teams to optimize database design and performance.
- Automate administrative tasks using PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, and other scripting tools.
Required Skills & Experience:
For L3 (Senior Level) Role:
- Experience: 10+ years in Oracle DBA roles.
- Expertise in managing large-scale Oracle databases in cloud-native and hybrid environments.
- Strong experience with Linux-based Oracle installations, upgrades, and patching.
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning, high-availability solutions, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Ability to handle high-priority incidents and ensure quick resolutions.
For L2 (Mid-Level) Role:
- Experience: 5+ years as an Oracle DBA.
- Must have experience in at least one cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proficiency with at least one or two additional database engines, such as IBM DB2, MongoDB, MySQL, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery strategies using RMAN.
For L1 (Junior Level) Role:
- Experience: 2+ years in Oracle DBA roles.
- Familiarity with Oracle cloud deployments and multi-database environments.
- Basic understanding of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and database security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Oracle certifications (OCP, OCM) are highly desirable.
- Experience in database automation and scripting for administration tasks.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, Change Advisory Board (CAB) participation, and security compliance.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• 6 - 8 years of software development / consulting / support experience is required.
• Experience with one of these databases - Neo4j, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL – is required.
• Strong understanding of relational and / or graph database concepts is required.
• Experience working with public cloud technologies specifically AWS, Azure & GCP.
• Experience working with RedHat / CentOS / Amazon Linux operating systems will be a plus.
• Competence in at least one of the following languages (in no particular order): Java, C++, C#, Python, Scala
• Experience with ETL tools ingesting / cleansing / transforming data from multiple data sources will be a plus.
• Knowledge / Hands on experience in Kettle will be a plus.
• Experience with Customer Support for databases primarily on Linux OS.
• Familiarity with enterprise software architectures and application development methodologies is required.
• Familiarity with Linux diagnostics and tuning; Windows tuning knowledge will be a plus.
• Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting skills are required.
Job description
· Good interpersonal skills and be ability to build consensus and work closely with fellow DBAs.
· Must have extensive knowledge of Oracle 12c,19c, RAC, ASM, Flashback, RMAN, Data Guard, and Oracle Golden Gate.
· Expertise in implementing Oracle Data Guard and the different features around Data Guard.
· Expertise implementing RMAN, cloning, backup & recovery.
· Must have SQL and Database Tuning skills.
· Unix/Linux expertise including but not limited to volume management, kernel parameter analysis, shell scripting, and understanding of networking concepts.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products.
- Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.
- Take care of the Database design and implementation, including Patch Management and Version Control. Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
- Perform database/application tuning and performance monitoring.
- Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
- Plan growth and changes (capacity planning).
- Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required.
- Perform general technical troubleshooting and give consultation to development teams.
- Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
- Analyse potential impact of problem resolution and take corrective measures when needed.

Education, Skills and Experience required:
- Engineering or Technical Degrees (BE/ B.Tech/ ME/ M.Tech/ M.Sc / MCA)
- Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Must have experience on multiple Hardware and Software Environments and be comfortable with complex heterogeneous systems environments.
- Must be an Oracle Certified Professional DBA (11g or above) with hands-on experience of RAC, RMAN.
- Good understanding of the Oracle database, related utilities and tools and underlying operating system.
- Excellent knowledge of the physical database design and all Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
- Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans. Data archival and space management.
- Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring.
- Good knowledge of Oracle security management and Oracle data integrity.
- Experience in code/data migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.
- Sound knowledge of both database and system performance tuning and implemented application systems.
